Shivaji Bhonsle was one of the most respected Indian warrior king and founder of Maratha dynasty. The genesis of the Maratha Empire was formed by Shivaji by carving out an enclave from the declining Adilshahi Sultanate of Bijapur. He is also known by the name - Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born in the Shivneri fort in Maharashtra on 19th February 1630. At very young age, he displayed qualities of a born leader. 5. A great Strategist and planner: Shivaji knew how to attack the enemy with a proper plan. As a result of his strategies, he was able to face the armies of the Sultans of Bijapur and the Mughals.

6. Good administrator: He used to give strict warnings to army about the codes and conduct. He used to personally look after the working of various departments. He was merciless against those who indulged in corruption and oppression.

7. Respect for others faith: He treated everyone fairly. Khafi Khan, who was a great critic of Shivaji, has observed about him that he had “made it a rule that whenever his followers went plundering, they should do no harm to the mosques, the Book of God (Quran) or the women of anyone.”

8. Rejuvenator of the Hindus: Shivaji established a new spirit of pride among the Hindus. He, however, was also very particular to maintain the honor of Muslim women and the holy Quran.
