1. Leadership skills: Vivekananda had the immense power of leading the people towards a common vision and higher consciousness. Vivekananda had the vision to make people realize their hidden potential and capabilities, to instill the much-lost faith amongst them. Corporate giants need to utilize the best of the abilities of the team which is done by a strong belief in the vision of the organization and influencing people to work for the overall good of the organization.

2. Vision: Sometimes smaller victories distract even the greatest of the great leaders. As the corporate world is engaged in cutthroat competition and the never-ending rat race, they lose the sight of the bigger vision. According to Vivekananda reformulation of the short-term goals, long-term goals, as well as the actual vision, is required to be done by the corporates, to avoid the temporary distractions.

3. Courage: Vivekananda used to strive to inspire people to be courageous. Corporate culture is perceived to be fiscal oriented and this must be changed. In case of a tragedy, running for cover should not be an option, instead, they can set an example for all by owning up to their mistakes if any, and graciously working towards setting them right.

4. Accountability: Whenever the times are tough several corporates lack in this merit. Courage plays an important role here. The courageous leaders would be open to face the criticism and even the worst consequences. Vivekananda believed in empowering people, and accountability is one of the stepping stones for it.

5. Unity: Swami Vivekananda always believed in the cosmic power of unity, which is an absolute pre-requisite in the world of corporates. Considering everyone as equal takes the organization to massive heights. As a result of the implementation of this virtue, employee retention rates would be higher, thus making the organization sustainable.

6. Goal Oriented: Vivekananda was extremely oriented towards his goal- he had identified it, and had even left his life of riches, in order to pursue it. He believed one can achieve anything that he or she wishes to with the utmost dedication. Adopting a goal-oriented approach, a solution based focus would definitely transform the working patterns thus leading the organization to unsurpassable heights.

These were some of the teachings to keep in mind when you are in a corporate sector. Here some of his best life teachings:

1. "Anything that makes you weak physically, intellectually and spiritually, reject as poison" - We are in charge of things that bring us down. We smoke cigarettes, do not work out, sometimes do not help those who are in need and this makes weak physically and spiritually.

2. "We want that education by which character is formed, the strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded, and by which one can stand on one’s own feet" - According to Swami Vivekananda, we have such a disastrous education system. Colleges are using theoretical approaches and not providing the exposure and skill we need. Children should be encouraged to take part in extracurricular activities, leadership programs and learn something new.

3. "Like me or Hate me, both are in my favor. If you like me I am in your Heart. If you hate me I am in your mind" - I believe this statement is self-explanatory.

4. "Whatever you think, that you will be. If you think yourselves weak, weak you will be; if you think yourselves strong, strong you will be" - Our minds are responsible for all the limitations and restrictions. Everything is a mind game. First we need to believe and eventually, somehow our mind carves a way out to achieve what we believe.

5. "If you have faith in all the three hundred and thirty millions of your mythological gods, … and still have no faith in yourselves, there is no salvation for you. Have faith in yourselves, and stand upon that faith and be strong; that is what we need"

6. "Who is Helping You, Don’t Forget them. Who is Loving you, Don’t Hate them. Who is Believing you, Don’t Cheat them"

In the race of getting ahead, people forget these small but crucial lessons in life. Use these teachings in your life and you will be able to see the change.
